How to get Nail polish out of Couch, Leather & Fabric Sofa

Leather couch

Getting rid of nail polish from your leather sofas can be extremely a very hard task to handle, especially if you don’t act upon the stain as soon as it has occurred, as it can cause discoloration of your leather sofa and harden it as well. So always be careful of removing the stain as soon as possible.

In case the stain of nail polish has dried out on the sofa then rub it with an eraser very gently without pressing it too hard. Keep rubbing until the nail polish stain is gone.

Keep doing this until it is permanently removed. However, if this method doesn’t work as well then trying cleaning it with a body soap.

Make a mixture of soap and water, and rub it onto the nail polish stain with the help of a clean cloth. Keep rubbing until it is removed. After that, dry off your sofa with a dry cloth or a towel.

In the end apply leather conditioner on your sofa so it regains its shiny and soft look. Try these different methods and they will certainly get you rid of the nail polish stain on your leather sofa.

If you want the best results then it’s necessary you treat the nail polish stain right away. Always be careful with your sofas, some harsh stains on it can ruin the look of your expensive leather sofa.

Fabric sofa

First and foremost, spray a small amount of off bug spray on a hidden area of the fabric to ensure that it is colorfast. If the color is not removed or damaged by the spray, it should be safe to proceed to the stained area

Spray the bug spray onto the nail polish. Spray enough that the stain is saturated. After the spray has started to be absorbed by the stain, scrub the area gently with an old toothbrush.

If the stain remains, saturate the area with hair spray (cheap hairspray works best). Allow the hairspray to set for a few minutes, then scrub with an old toothbrush. Once the nail polish is removed, wash the piece as usual.

Microfiber couch and other furniture

Use either a white piece of terry cloth or another very absorbent fabric. Wet it with nail polish remover or acetone and press it onto the stain. Hold it there for a few seconds until the nail polish starts to soften. Keep turning the rag and rewetting as needed, and blotting gently at the polish until it is removed.

Ensure you do not rub the stain as this will only spread it into a larger mess. Once it is reduced to just a skim of polish, you can rub out the last of it, but very gently, this is if you don’t want to rub out the surrounding dyes too.

Try this technique in a non-visible area before trying it on the stain, it may also lift the color from the sofa.
